OmniViz Solar: Privacy Policy
OmniViz Solar is an app for monitoring and configuring a solar charge controller over Bluetooth. This policy explains what the app does with your data. In short: it collects nothing, and everything stays on your phone.
No data collection
- OmniViz Solar does not collect, send or share any personal data.
- There are no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
- The app has no internet permission, so it cannot send data anywhere by itself.
Data stored on your phone
To work, the app stores the following only on your device:
- readings from your charge controller (voltages, currents, energy) and the history built from them;
- your installation, controller and battery profiles;
- backups of your controller settings, saved before each settings change so you can restore them;
- a log of events (connections, charging stages, load switching, low battery, settings changes);
- your Panel Wizard location and panel setup;
- your preferences (units, theme, alert thresholds).
This data never leaves your phone unless you choose to export it (see below). Uninstalling the app deletes it.
Bluetooth
The app uses Bluetooth only to find and connect to your solar charge controller's Bluetooth adapter, and to read and change its settings when you ask it to. Bluetooth is not used to determine your location.
Location
The app asks for your location in two cases, and only on your phone:
- Bluetooth scanning on Android 11 and older. Android requires location permission for any app that scans for Bluetooth devices. The app uses it only for that scan.
- Panel Wizard (the solar panel angle assistant). To calculate where the sun is, it needs your approximate position. It reads it once, only when you tap "Use GPS", and stores it on your phone. You can type a town name instead.
Your location is never sent to OmniViz Studio or anyone else by the app.
Place search
If you search for a town in Panel Wizard, the app passes the name you typed to your phone's built-in location service (provided by Google on Android, Apple on iOS) to find its coordinates. That service handles the request under its own privacy policy. The app itself has no internet access.
Notifications
If you enable alerts (for example low battery), the app shows notifications on your phone. They are created on the device; nothing is sent to a server.
Links
Some buttons open a web page in your browser (for example information about upcoming products). From then on, the website handles your visit under its own privacy policy.
Export
If you export your history as a CSV file, the app opens your phone's share menu and you choose where the file goes (for example email or cloud storage). From that point, the chosen app or service handles the file under its own privacy policy.
Purchases
Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. OmniViz Studio does not receive your payment details. The app checks your purchase on your device.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date.
